The most common form of despair is not being who you are.
Recently I heard a great sermon by Pastor Ernie Hinojosa about three lies that keep us from reaching our greatest potential.
The three lies identified by Hinojosa:
1 – You are not good enough.
2 – You will never realize your dream.
3 – It’s over for good when something doesn’t work out.
These debilitating untruths remind me of statements I often hear from people about the chaos in their lives. They say they don’t have the time, energy or resources to rid themselves of excess clutter – whether it’s physical or emotional.
Perhaps the reason we hang on to this chaos is because of fear of the many lies we’ve inadvertently learned over the years. Hinojosa calls these “ideas that get lodged into our thinking that become a barrier in our life.”
What would our lives look like without these barriers? Let’s find out… together!
Starting February 29, Less For More Life will facilitate a free closed Facebook page for those who want to calm the chaos by getting rid of physical and emotional clutter. Sometimes it feels overwhelming to change directions and live in the truth – especially if we think we’re on that road all alone. It’s helpful to receive encouragement from others on the same path.
Let’s challenge each other to live in the truth and not cave into the fear of lies we’ve been told – ones like Hinojosa speaks of, and more. Think of all the false notions we learn from our culture.
You know the ones that tell us if we buy just one more pair of jeans, we’ll be popular… if we get that shiny new truck, we’ll be as cool as those football players we’re watching… if we go buy more stuff, we’ll be happy….
Or the falsehoods that tell us we’re too old to make changes… we’re too lazy to get healthy… we like food too much to lose weight… we’ll never get rid of all our junk….
Isn’t it time to discard these lies and live in the truth?
Next week we will share more information about the closed Facebook page and some news about exciting changes coming to Less For More Life. For now, we’d love to hear in the comments below some of the untruths you’ve picked up along the way that have held you back.
